A bath conversion is a small remodel that fixes a big daily friction. The question is which conversion. Every Just Bath in-home design call eventually lands on the same three options, and which one is right depends almost entirely on how the household actually uses the bathroom.
Option 1: Keep the bathtub, swap the surround
The cheapest, fastest path. Your bathtub stays put; we install a premium acrylic surround over the wet-area walls. One install day, lifetime warranty on the wall system.
Right when: the tub is still in good shape and you actually use it. Households with young kids, dogs, or a long-bath-at-night habit usually keep the tub.
Wrong when: the tub is cracked, the floor under it is soft, or you have not touched the tub in two years.
Option 2: Tub-to-shower conversion
The most-requested Just Bath service. We remove the bathtub, install a low-threshold acrylic shower base on the same footprint, and put up a custom surround. Same day install. You can pair it with a frameless glass door for the showroom look.
Right when: the bathtub is decorative at this point. You shower in another bathroom. You want the floor space (a walk-in shower opens up the room visually). You are aging into a household where stepping over a tub wall is starting to feel sketchy.
Wrong when: you sell to families with young kids and the listing photo is going to need a tub in this bathroom for resale.
Option 3: Walk-in tub
The bathtub stays, but a walk-in tub with a sealed door replaces the standard bathtub. You step over a 4-inch threshold instead of a 15-inch wall.
Right when: there is a specific person in the household who needs to keep bathing (often for medical or comfort reasons) but for whom a standard bathtub has become unsafe. The walk-in tub is purpose-built for this.
Wrong when: "I am thinking ahead for when I get older." We see plenty of those, and we honor them. But a walk-in tub is a larger investment than the standard tub-to-shower conversion and only pays back when someone is actually using it daily.
How Just Bath decides on the design call
A real designer comes to your home for free. They walk through the bathroom, listen to how each household member uses it, look at the existing fixture and substrate, and tell you which of the three options fits. We do not have a "house favorite". We just match the project to your life.
Then you get a written quote the same visit. No follow-up campaigns.
